IRAPADA IRAPADA, meaning “return,” is a research project by Style House Files in collaboration with Bestseller Foundation, supported by LAWMA. This film documents the foundation of the project and the thinking behind it. It examines textile waste in Lagos, where households generate over 21,000 tonnes monthly, much of which ends in landfills. Materials with potential for reuse lose value within a system that does not account for their full lifecycle. IRAPADA addresses this gap. It studies how textiles move across the value chain, from sourcing to production, distribution, and post-consumer use. It highlights the need for systems that recognise waste as resource, and responsibility as shared across all stages. The project engages with makers, communities, and industry stakeholders to build a clearer understanding of existing practices and possible interventions. It positions research as a tool for policy direction, industry change, and practical solutions grounded in local context. This is not a conversation about waste alone. It is a conversation about value, systems, and accountability. IRAPADA calls for a return. Return to use. Return to value. Return to responsibility.
